The team from Scientific Update, organisers of conferences, seminars and workshops for the chemical industry, will deliver a series of interactive technical workshops in Dubai on both days of the event:
Scale-up: What goes wrong?
This course will look at the reasons why reactions don’t always scale-up as expected, using real-life examples from industry. Some theory on mixing and related topics (such as heat transfer) will be covered, along with useful tips on which types of reactions are likely to cause problems.
Quality by Design; a discussion of the possible impact of this approach
• Provides an overview of the QbD concept and where it impacts on API development
• The proven acceptable range notion will be emphasised as this is applicable in current standard development practices and submissions
• The intention is to promote some discussion

What can the Pharma sector learn from the Agro sector?
Several decades ago the Agrochemicals sector underwent huge price pressures and has had to respond by employing effective chemical and manufacturing solutions to ensure the cost of goods is acceptable. This presentation aims to provide some case studies where complex targets have been prepared very efficiently and asks why we can’t achieve the same in Pharma?
