Manufacturers’ Golf & Country Club
Club History
To appreciate the grandeur of Manufacturers’ Golf & Country Club is to first understand the history of the magnificent piece of land on which the course resides. Originally the home of sugar magnate William Frazier Harrison, the Chestnut Hill stone Clubhouse served as the backdrop of the design of renowned golf architect, William Flynn in 1923. History suggests that Flynn, a member of the “Philadelphia School of Golf architecture”, orchestrated the design and development of the course from the hilltop, a notion that any golfer who ever stepped foot on the course can appreciate.
Opened to membership in 1925, the Club has undergone regular upgrading of both it golf and Clubhouse facilities, all designed to ensure that the golf course remains the gem that is was originally designed to be. Residing on 200 acres surrounding the Sandy Run Creek, Manufacturers’ is as steeped in Philadelphia golf history as any of its esteemed peers. This is reflected by its recent rating as one of the top 60 classic golf courses in America. Of even more importance, the mission of the Club remains as it has always been- to be a haven of enjoyment for its members and their guests.

The heart of Manufacturers’ Golf & Country Club is one of the finest classical courses in America. Teeing off one of the most stunning opening holes in the region, the classic Flynn course provides a golfing experience that is an enlightened treat for guests yet a constant standard for members.

An Extraordinary Golfing Experience
From its stunning beginning on the first tee, the golfing experience created by William Flynn is a mosaic unlike any other in the Philadelphia area. With the constant presence of the Sandy Run Creek providing both aesthetic pleasure and golfing risk, the course features a blend of holes unique in nature and design. The opening nine tucks along the western boundary of the 200-acre property, with breathtaking elevation changes highlighting a wide range of shot-making opportunities. The incoming nine, designed along the higher elevation lines of the property, provides a stiff closing test for golfers seeking to bring home a quality score. In all, this classic Flynn course, as enjoyable to play as it is challenging to conquer, is the cornerstone of the Manufacturers’ experience.
