Chemspec is coming to the USA

Chemspec, the leading exhibition and networking event for the fine and speciality chemicals industry, has announced its expansion into the world’s largest market with the launch of Chemspec USA. The first Chemspec USA will take place in Philadelphia on 3-5 May 2011.

“Chemspec USA is a direct response to feedback from the industry which has indicated the need for an alternative event in North America,” said Steve Diprose, Vice President of the Chemicals Division at Quartz Business Media, organiser of the Chemspec shows worldwide and publisher of Speciality Chemicals Magazine.

Over the past couple of years Chemspec Europe, the flagship event, has undergone significant development and increased its popularity within the industry due to its evolution from a trade show into a multi-faceted networking event with many additional features, including educational content, industry showcases and extensive networking opportunities. Many of these will be replicated at Chemspec USA.

Chemspec USA will be the premier networking event for the fine, custom and speciality chemicals industries in North America. Exhibitors will represent a broad cross-section of these industries from sectors such as Pharmaceuticals, Crop Science, Custom Manufacturing, Green Chemistry, Biotechnology, Personal Care, Water Treatment and many more.

“We are locating the show in Philadelphia for two main – and inter-related - reasons: its convenience for exhibitors and visitors and the importance of the chemical and related industries to the region,” said Diprose. “With over 36,000 Greater Philadelphia residents employed in the sector, Philadelphia is one of the most important locations for the life sciences in the US.”

Not only does it have four times the average national concentration of pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities but it topped the rankings in the 2009 Milken Report due to a strong blend of established pharma, research infrastructure, world-renowned universities, emerging start-ups, workforce and support network for entrepreneurs. Moreover, 60% of SOCMA member companies and 27% of ACS members are within 100 miles of Philadelphia.
