The discussion will be led by Dr. Magid Abou-Gharbia, former Senior VP of Wyeth and head of chemical and screening processes, now with Temple University, School of Pharmacy, as Dean for Research, Professor of Medicinal Chemistry and Director of the Moulder Center for Drug Discovery Research.

           
Panelists:

Head of Chemistry Cardiovascular & Metabolic Research at Janssen Pharmaceutical Companies of Johnson & Johnson, Dr. William Murray joined Johnson and Johnson in 1980 as a synthetic organic chemist. During his time at J&J, Dr. Murray has held positions of increasing responsibility in medicinal chemistry and chemical and pharmaceutical development.

Dr Thomas Sowin is currently a Sr. External Chemistry Manager for Pharmaceutical Discovery at Abbott Laboratories. Prior to this, Dr Sowin was a Senior Project Leader within the Cancer Research area of Drug Discovery with Abbott Labs for five years.

Dr. John Ellingboe has an extensive background in medicinal chemistry and drug discovery, having worked with Wyeth Research and Pfizer for 25 years. Dr. Ellingboe is currently Senior Vice President of Discovery Chemistry in the Collaborative Research division of GVK Bio.

In 1991, Dr. Thomas D’Ambra co-founded Albany Molecular Research Inc (AMRI).  At AMRI over the years, he has been involved and taken an active role in all aspects of the business at various times, from bench research scientist to business development, to operational and strategic management.  He has authored numerous publications and is inventor on over 30 U.S. patents. He has and continues to serve as an advisor and mentor for new and young companies.
